Yet almost every decision includes some form of "stop freaking out, this is really a very narrow decision that won't change much" in the majority opinion.

Some of them I think they even mean it, and then they're completely shocked when something like the domestic abuser gun control case comes back to them and they're like, "How should I know that there would be consequences to my [decisions]?"
