it's worth remembering that people tend to position themselves as experts on a topic as a means of coping with perceived lack of power, particularly when posting feels action. and we can see and understand that while also realizing a lot of people here don't always know what they're talking about.

there's a lot of attention to be gained from taking advantage of people's very valid panic, fear, frustration, anger, and disgust–and often these feelings overwhelm and prevent us from slowing down to ask, say, "is this someone i trust? are they qualified? are they providing something of value now?"
