I don't think enough people realize how much more fascist America has become, or how appeasement (scolding about civility and free speech along with policy decisions that favor the right) has not only aided that, but could suppress turnout.

in watching low turnout in Iran for their charade of a presidential election, in that case there’s a widespread boycott. note the choice to participate in a boycott, is by definition, not "apathy" but a choice.
