"We should all celebrate the end of slavery" - Juneteenth = last enslaved folks learning they'd been "free" for 2yrs 🙃 - Slavery didn't "end" (13th Amendment) - Need to dismantle how history teaches that slavery was no one's fault + reparations are thus no one's responsibility

To me, it seems impossible to meaningfully celebrate slaves "being freed" while ignoring the circumstances of enslavement As though all the "bad people" miraculously died out and the ill-gotten wealth evaporated, leaving only good humble folks who have all since lived in harmony
