I suspect that what the community is expecting from labellers is just ultimately unsustainable. There is probably a model where they can be useful, but not as a drop-in replacement for broad, official service moderation.

Anyone who tries seriously to stand up one of these is going to immediately get demands for policy statements, staff vetting, transparency processes, SLAs, etc. You also interject yourself into the middle of every interpersonal dispute that any of your subscribers are even on the periphery of.
