My advice--don't worry too much about being "original." Worry about whether the thing you're doing is interesting and fun to you. There will always be someone to say your work isn't sufficiently new. They are obviously not your audience. 5/5

This is why I roll my eyes every time someone sanctimoniously declares they found a cliché/trope. MFer, they became clichés/tropes for a *reason*: they WORK. As with all writing, what separates good from bad is how well they're USED.
