There's an ongoing interstate debate in Australia over the correct name for battered, deep fried potato. In Victoria, Potato Cakes.In NSW, Potato Scallops. Everyone has an opinion- obviously the name you grew up with is correct, & the lack of stakes means everyone is happy to make that opinion known

i have very firmly become a 'don't yuck other people's yum' & 'trust other people to know their own tastes/needs' sort. i am much happier for it. i don't even like it when people go for food quirks of hated public figures, cos i could probably name fam or friend that shares the quirk

There's a reboot of Hawaii 5-0 featuring a mainland guy all about "normal" American stuff and a guy who's chill with Hawaii culture. The insults about stuff like pineapple pizza definitely sound like an insult to an entire culture. It really didn't come off as harmless funny conflict banter.
