One of these days I’m gonna have to actually figure out what Aragorn’s tax policy could’ve plausibly been (ie, how did later Roman emperors go about taxation?)

My first Q would be, what is govt's role & scope in Aragorn's Gondor? Presumably at least defense & roads. But beyond that, were they laissez-faire? Or actively involved? Were the people of Gondor still "elevated," able to operate well & properly without oversight? Or did they need interventions?
