At the outset of the war Israel was worried Hezbollah was coordinated with Hamas or would otherwise take advantage of its success. Some leaders were advocating an Israeli preemptive attack against Hezbollah, but US pressure and cooler heads prevailed and Israel decided not to attack in Oct. 2/

But Hezbollah chose to find its own way to join the fight and along with other Iranian proxies has been attacking Israel to force Israel to split its attention and concentrate force away from Gaza. Israel for its part targeted Hezbollah facilities, fighters and military leaders 3/
