I want to say the zodiac killer was an exception to the intelligence thing because of the cipher he created that no one in law enforcement could crack, but then I remembered that a high school teacher did it in a weekend.

the letter got recently cracked and it 1. was unsolvable as a whole initially because there was a mistake that threw half the letter off by one letter 2. was identified by a decoded part because he wrote ”paradice” as he had before

You ever try to decipher a meth addicts delusions? They think they are intelligent. Wouldn’t surprise me if a large portion of serial killers are drug abusers at some point.
