My suggestion would be to try to connect it to similar themes in contemporary life. I would guess you can do a lot by connecting it to things like AI, climate change, etc. Gotta connect it to things he actually does care about.

I told him it came out of a ghost-story challenge and that he should look up on Wikipedia what a cool, interesting and avant garde lady Mary Shelley was. And his teacher talked about Prometheus, but these are good ideas too
