What is this "commonplace meaning" you are talking about? Words have meanings and they can be found in dictionaries. This is textbook Holocaust denial. You can try "but she didn't know", for which I don't care, but you can't have "it didn't happen", because it is not true.

What she said was offensive and was rightly criticised. I am not defending what she said. I felt that the blanket term did not accurately convey the bad thing she said, but implied something different. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.
