History didn’t stop in 1791. We’ve known ever since that ex-presidents could be indicted if they committed crimes. Just ask Gerald Ford when he pardoned Richard Nixon. (Or ask Nixon when he accepted the pardon.) 4/6

Granting Trump immunity would imperil our democratic system by allowing presidents to deny the outcomes of democratic elections, even by violence. Voters should decide who is president and presidents should support the peaceful transfer of power. 5/6
