Even Pelosi, Hoyer and Clyburn are still around even as they’re not in the top jobs. Some people just can’t see themselves leaving the big stage for whatever reason.

big contrast in Maryland politics that sarbanes is leaving (age 62) to do something else with his life, ruppersberger (age 78) is retiring at a reasonable age, but hoyer (age 85) is sticking around even while out of the leadership (just because he still likes having staff and interns, I guess)
