I would suggest that you disable auto-play by default. There are a lot of people out there with motion sickness and neurological disabilities triggered by flashy gifs. Just a thought.

Annoying GIFs are one of the reasons why can't stand "X" If turning off auto-play also blocks even seeing a still image of the GIF, I'm okay with that. If not Bluesky just also became annoying.

GIFs = Fantastic. A way of stopping them from autoplaying = 10000000 times better. This is one of the things that makes Threads unbearable, autoplaying videos that you can't prevent from playing. Or even stop. Please and thank you.

If custom (on-site hosted) GIFs & Videos may take a bit to implement could ya'll consider embedded links to IMGUR? That's by far and away the easiest site to post video/gifs/images to and if it can detect (and auto play) a video or GIF the way your other embeds do? 🙏 🙏 🙏
