As someone who works almost exclusively with PhD-level colleagues, I don't find this reassuring. 😉 A PhD isn't a marker of intelligence, it's a sign of domain-specific knowledge earned through research, study & scholarship, which we know AI to be incapable of.

I have an old friend with a PhD. Really smart guy in his field, but his wife won't let him use a screwdriver in case he hurts himself with it (history has proven her right in this).
