Medical researcher and Nobel laureate Paul Ehrlich correctly theorised that antibacterial drugs were to be found among the new chemical products developed by the dye industry, and in fact his Institut für experimentelle Therapie was next door to a dye factory. The sulfa drugs were one such family.
