the answer to “why does AI art suck” emerges from its relations of production tbh. people not involved in artistic labor choosing to exploit that labor for personal gain create meaningless slop.

i worked with artists in the bay edm scene about 10 years ago and despite *waves hands generally* one of the things i loved was the remix culture. another artist made a song you love, you take it apart and put it back together with your own signature style. it was so cool. you’re absolutely right—
