So we're in Australia and got our car for 2500 AUD or about 1600 USD, it's an old taxi cab with about 370k miles on it, at the time the cheapest ebike on the market was about 2k AUD. One of the places my partner works is only 22 miles away, but it's only accessible by highway where you can't ride

Now these are specific cases but the attitude of "just get an ebike" is part of the association I think

Ok but you have to pay for gas that is many times more expensive than the electricity needed to ride a bike so you spent 500 more on something with higher operating costs and you want to say that is the choice “less privileged people” would make?
