I've just always admired how it's presented more as just a character trait of his with both positives and negatives than the dumbass Batman "iF hE eVeR kIlLs AnYoNe He WiLl BeCoMe ThE nExT JoNkLeR" nonsense the trope is almost 100% of the time portrayed as.

Oh it's absolutely silly. Especially if you factor In all the dumb cape shit superheroes do that absolutely has killed people later. I remember specifically this one short comic of a spiderman goon stuck in webbing upside down so long he pisses himself twice and nearly drops directly onto his head.
