This sounds pessimistic; it’s also hopeful? Progress was made! It was hard, grinding, slow, unsteady and deadly, but it was made. Progress towards a better life is a bit like pushing back the tide. There’s always forces working against you, too. But still we go on, together, for our communities

Still we go on, still we survive, still we fight. We may not see victory in our lifetime. We may never get all that we seek? But we have each other, we have our communities, and we can continue one step after the other towards our goal. The alternative is to give up and lie down, but why would we?
