Pretty much everyone who had to subsistence farm was glad to not have to anymore! And then their kids who were spared from having to do any of that work get all romantic about it.

The last subsistence farmers in my tribe stopped doing that inside my lifetime. I can *remember* that shit. Pretty sure we had the last case of rickets in the whole damn South.
