This happens to me but from the other end. I work with an all black staff and it’s just known some of our white clients prefer working with me for “reasons.” I am not their case manager. I am not their therapist. Not even their driver. I am the IT Manager. But certain clients just feel I “get it.”

And no, I don’t want to talk to them either and yes, I have two black parents. But one INSISTS on asking about that white mama I apparently have. Every. Single. Time.
