there are two separate questions: (1) is Joe Biden physically and mentally capable of doing the job or is he too old and (2) what do people believe about (1) and will it cause Joe Biden to lose. you've been conflating them.

(1) is a fair reason for someone to resign and pass off the reins, and to be encouraged by his closest aides and confidantes, acting together, to do so gracefully, and failing that, for the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment. (2) is not and is a coalition shattering nightmare.
