Instead of sharing "just vote harder" sentiments, let me implore you to get involved in your hyper local community. Talk to your neighbors, help when you can. Donate to food pantries, volunteer with outreach orgs. Get involved with your library board or Friends of the Library group - (1/?)

Do I like all my neighbors? Hell no. But I know them, I know their issues, and we know we can ask eachother for help. That can make all the difference when shit goes sideways.

This one is big: Attend/participate in city hall meetings. We get so swept up in national politics that we forget our local politicians are infinitely more accessible. Will they always listen? No. But knowing what's happening in your own backyard can help you prepare for it.
