If there are two normal parties, they build people up and kick them down as necessary to achieve that. But right now one party is set on destroying the constitutional Republic in favor of a fascist dictatorship and run by an incoherent, priapistic criminal. The other is a normal party.

So the only way to keep it close is to keep taking every shot possible at the normal side. Not that the Democrats haven't made it much easier than they should, especially the people around Biden. And the shots aren't all unfair. But they are the bulk of what you see to make both sides seem similar.
