It's completely stupid as hell. But we know it's stupid as hell. Making a change now would bring in way too many variables we can't account for, not least being ratfucking lawsuits to keep our new ticket off the ballot.

I basically agree. There are no good options. The time to address this was four years ago and lots of people, myself included, got accused of bigotry for predicting this exact scenario.
