I think that's just the ideology that has historically and continues to support the whole idea of war as people deemed less valuable being sent to kill and be killed by each other by powerful people who give orders from a safe distance.

Idk how popular this take is but this is why I believe that any political leader who engages in a war should, at the very least, be forced to actually fight in it, in the most dangerous positions available. Power does not make a life more precious, and lack of it does not make one disposable.
