Bluesky may not be the best place to move from Twitter (currently called "X" by its off-the-wall head), but moving anywhere else is better than staying on an ever-more-toxic site. That this isn't obvious yet, notably to Big Journalism, is an enduring mystery.

Other sites just don’t have enough functionality yet. The amazing thing is that it was obvious from day one that Musk was going to implode, and yet all these other billionaires couldn’t figure out how to be ready for that day.

Our choices are slim, but if Bluesky keeps its promise to federate, it may be the best near-term option for achieving scale and critical mass to be the x-free broadcasting conduit so many brands and media properties crave, while also advancing the best long-term solution: a more robust fediverse.
