It’s not a “trans culture war.” It’s bigotry. Republicans are protecting bigotry. Labeling equality as a “culture war” issue diminishes its importance and harms marginalized communities.

It's striking how conservatives always seem to put bigotry into overdrive targeting whoever is having a happy moment. Kwanza? "War on Xmas!" Pride Month? "Protect our wimmin! And pastors are the only ones allowed to molest children!" It's not even the economic failure. It's the hatred.

"War" always brings to mind 2 forces, of vaguely equal power. Kind of like "controversy" but with guns. By labeling it so, they give the topic legitimacy. "War on Terror" "War on Drugs" Bigotry is a far better term; don't let them frame the topic!

If I meet someone who's a Republican, I know that they at least tolerate open bigotry and hate. Republicans have been the party of bigotry for my entire life.
