I think of marine CO₂ removal (mCDR) as techniques that reduce surface ocean pCO₂ and use the ocean surface as a contactor to draw down atmospheric CO₂. Dumping terrestrial biomass into the deep sea and injecting CO₂ into the deep sea are not mCDR.

At what point does that make a sufficient difference to the acidity of the oceans, at what depth, and how do coral reefs and fish respond? Also, while wave action helps with oxygenation of water, what does it do to dissolved CO2?
