We’re making a lot of plastic. In the nearly 70 years between 1950 and 2019, we produced a total of ~9.5 billion tonnes of plastic. But that's equivalent in weight to the amount of CO₂ we emitted to the atmosphere during the first three months of 2024.

i think this is an important observation: plastic persists in the environment we could fix that by burning it that produces co2 by not burning it we save this much co2 confusing the public by equating plastic co2 with fossil fuel co2 false view that plastic control is a climate outcome
