A foreign country explicitly supported one of the candidates and actively interfered with the election while the party of that candidate undermined our national defense because it would end any chance of his winning. Then the head of the FBI released a letter implicating a candidate with a crime.

The problem in 2000 was Bill Clinton was being impeached while Gore was trying to run a campaign, that then had to distance itself from a popular president. Sure the hanging Chad was an issue, but really it shouldn't have been that close.
