I'm using the default Bullseye. It plays videos, but I have to use ffmpeg and ffplay as VLC doesn't work at all, but screen tearing has been a classic problem with the pi4. You may not notice it, but I definitely do. Enabling Wayland fixes it in windowed mode, but doesn't play at all in fullscreen.

Ah. Consider using the community distros in the forum, instead. Not only do you get more updated software, kernel included. Those may also solve bugs that are observed in the official distros.
