I think I've made a really difficult decision that I won't be writing any more essays/stories/pieces without compensation any longer. I'm a good writer who is at a stage in my life where I've been doing consistently good work for a long time; I can't really afford to do pro bono work anymore.

Physical therapy begins again today this means getting up hyper-early cycling to work to get my morning rounds done, popping into the gym to change, cycling to the Orange Line to grab the train to Malden. I take my bike because I’ll be cycling the five miles back afterward. It’s a hell of a life.

Today the imaging specialist was like, “oh yeah, that’s VERY MUCH a hernia. We’ll send these results to your doctor right away so you can nail down a surgery date.” WEIRD. IF ONLY THERE’D BEEN SIGNS. I’m just exhausted. It’s been a year dealing with this. And I’ve been telling them all along.

I continued to tell them hernias run in my family. That it feels like a hernia. Nope, just gluten. Until a couple weeks ago when it became VISIBLY NOTICEABLE. Then I went to a different doc and immediately she was like, “looks like a hernia. Let’s get you an ultrasound.”

Here’s the situation: concurrent with my celiac diagnosis, I’ve been noticing odd bulging in my lower belly and beyond. I’ve been “tucking” to push it “back in.” My doctors assured me over and over that it was just celiac irritation.

I recently heard, “Wusong Road is moving away from Tiki.” Buddy: Marquesan carved idols, tapa cloth lamps, glowing skulls in the jungle stairwell, not to mention a deep appreciation for cocktail craft and history? Wusong is more tiki than ever and Wusong Wednesday is lit as shit.
