The Minions movie really hits different when you realize the reason the Minions find "sanctuary" in an ice cave and then journey out years later due to "boredom" was 100% to avoid having a Minions movie where they naturally follow Hitler

Yes, yes, you all have hard lives. But the instructions with one of my new suits appears to indicate that there is absolutely no way to clean the suit, ever. Literally no action will not ruin it and therefore wear it for 6-10 occasions and then throw it out? Starting a GoFundme

I used one of these back then. They work, they're fine and convenient. Once you could USB2 they make zero sense.

the erasure of 20+ years of news stories here is yet another sign that future generations will have much richer knowledge of the 1930s than they will the GW Bush and Obama years. The wayback machine is carrying a lot of weight these days. If that goes, adios: variety.com/2024/digital...

Am I worried this guy is going to stab me? Well, probably a little, but he's barely above background radiation compared to some others. What's more important, though, is that you can't really recount his multi-years antics against people without seeming a bit cracked yourself.

I don't expect people reading the review of GET LAMP to track down that the author of that review and realize he lives in a cinematic spectrum with an Interactive Fiction documentary on one end and SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY on the other. But rest assured, the review on my movie was the only one.

But, like, burn for years, years and years, like the Centralia, Pennsylvania of fury. Personal attacks, near-threats, sockpuppeting, it's all there, the classic situation of someone glowing so hot with hate that their not-good-thing got called not-good that they're the Revenant, but for Nerds.

By looking through wayback links, and then cross-referencing, I realized I'd almost forgotten about Marshal Tenner Winner, an interactive fiction author who entered the Interactive Fiction Competition, got not-positive reviews, and decided the best use of his time was to burn everything down.

Here's a good example of how hard it is to maintain context on a web that is an interlocked series of handshake deals and text inertia. I was looking over IMDB and then I saw this review, and I'd initially wondered what they were talking about. Naturally I checked up on the reviewer.

The literally knee-weakening relief of finding 5 obscure novels from the 1790s on Internet Archive, when my other options were a) pay the currently-wildly-overworked BL research services team for scan & send, b) pay £250 for POD versions via AbeBooks, or c) invent the rest of this thesis chapter.

A few years ago, I had a role in an Austrian Sci-Fi movie about a rogue AI and its attempts to interface with humans via a car, and the question of the roles of humans in a world with AI. Nothing from it is relevant today. Anyway, the premiere is July 1, Austria Stadtkino.

Well, they used notes here but whenever they go off the rails on the notes they do super shallow stuff. They have direct numbers but, for example, they don't mention the Disney-20th Century Fox distribution choke-off which is killing indie theaters. Why would they? That takes research beyond seconds

GayBlade (1992) by Ryan Best was an obscure CRPG for the Apple Macintosh, Windows 3.1 PCs, and one of the earliest LGBT-themed games. With a quest to save Empress Nelda, it's billed as a lighthearted "spoof" with unique classes and enemies based on Best's own struggles. (a fabulous thread)

I think my favorite bit about the House MD series is that by this point, Hugh Laurie has made not one, not two, but three or four major series appearances or starring positions, and while I'm sure he personally felt he had more, he didn't HAVE to, to already be established as a legend.
