I know rankings this, rankings that. But, it is great to have watched and participated in UBC #sociology growth as a community of dedicated scholars producing great work!

Ultimately the ambiguity around public in public soc (is it activism, policy, or what?) and the need to add axes of inequality to every study is complicating. It alienates some. It hamstrings others. And it means departments just hire the same stuff and the same type of person from the same 10 dept

Meanwhile environmental soc was in the shadows. Only now becoming a mainstream area. But the science wing gets it just the same as the science wing of other subfields. So they hang mostly with climate science people and not soc. People.

I’ll give a less hot one that jibes with your take. 60 years ago, we didn’t study any of the axes of inequality but class. Then the pendulum swung real hard and now those who don’t study those poles are sort of in the minority. This pushed a lot of folks out of the field and ASA.

Goodnotes is a free app that allows you to store PDFs and take notes on them as well as create "notebooks" that are exportable to your cloud storage as PDFs. You can do so much - e.g., build a notebook and folder full of a class' PDFs and your own notes

I hadn't thought of it, to be honest. I took a bunch of pictures 20 days ago, and then just started uploading them one after the next. Many of my fave sociology by women are articles, to be honest. But, no, it is not intentional or unintentional.
