Ugh. Scholastic is requiring the schools to "opt in" to get for the fairs the diverse books, books w/kids of color, & books in Spanish - because they're being pressured to wyt wash their book fairs. Misleading headlines are classic fascist tools. We can't let censorship & confusion can't win here.

People aren't "getting" what's happening. Scholastic is being pressured by conservatives to eliminate books that celebrate diversity. Why is this messaging skewed? Because it pays to have libs reject Scholastic. The right wing censorship wants districts to opt into their book wyt washed books.

Right now right wing christian book fairs want to replace Scholastic Book Fairs with their highly curated for christian content book fairs. Scholastic does not censor their books. They're scrambling in a fight where they have no teeth. Help Scholastic before it's too late.

Legislators, elected officials, school boards are who put these things into place. We vote these people in, we can vote them out.

We had that pre shutdown but it was not a percentage, just a flat fee so people who could afford to put more $ on account saved money. Defies humane standards of care for our future citizenry.

We're getting there, one program at a time. Check out the Denver "Homeless Universal Income" project. Wildly successful at getting people on their feet. Oregon using Medicaid money for homing, wildly successful. The money is there, we need leaders who will prioritize people. ♥️

My state has free meals. No head count just an estimate. Kids can go back & ask if there are left overs. Local seasonal fruit & salad bar. They also have a table for unused food, kids put unopened items for other kids to grab if they're still hungry. Also "2nd chance breakfast." Feed them all!
