Hi Daniel, we create a lot of guides on how mainstream platforms are a privacy issue. That's why we need to be able to reach people on those platforms, and over time, many of them switch to more privacy centric versions, such as Matrix and Mastodon.

Hi Daniel, it's important to remember that learning about privacy can start anywhere, and many use mainstream channels as they slowly learn to use more privacy friendly ones and if we only used private spaces, we would never be able to help those people and would just be talking in an echo chamber.

The name/address of the terrorism suspect was actually given to police by Apple, not Proton. The terror suspect added their real-life Apple email as an optional recovery address in Proton Mail. Proton can't decrypt data, but in terror cases Swiss courts can obtain recovery email.
