Making Poem/1, the AI clock with a new poem every min every day because ~~vibes~~. Back the campaign on Kickstarter! poem.town/ks
I don’t want you to cheerlead but it’s also not very pleasant to be accused of being part of a scam so publicly? Can’t blame me for responding to that but you do you 🤷

@chuckwendig.bsky.social 👋 hi!here’s a pic of the Poem/1 technical proto on my shelves right now (I’m on London time). I use this for tuning the feel of the poems. It’s cute to hang out with and only rarely wrong :)
If you’re interested in the evolution of the tech, I posted a thread earlier today

Ars Technica covered Poem/1 and the hallucinations which are charming, yes, but maybe not in quantity, hence my work…
btw I feel like COST VS CORRECTNESS is an AI trade off we’ll all encounter sooner or later
Anyway! Hi! 👋 Back my Kickstarter!!

Two interesting consequences...
1️⃣ a tradeoff: each loop costs $$$ so do we care more about money or the time being accurate? what % is good enough?
2️⃣ the times are more accurate but we get a new kind of hallucination: made up words. e.g. that "teason" moment in the Kickstarter video

my original proto simply prompted the AI for a poem. result: time fibs, about 1 in 15, to make the rhyme work
I increased strictness: "you MUST be accurate!" - this is a valid form of prompt engineering lol
result: often omitting the time entirely
now there's a validation loop

A neighbour signed for my Amazon delivery yesterday while I was out. V kind thank you. Only they are literally NEVER at home except for, it seems, that precise 5 minutes when the Amazon van arrived
