If their little talons have sharp points on them, it can hurt when they hold on tight. I have to take my little birds to the vet to get their toenails trimmed - so I have to tolerate some prickly toes for a while. Here's Charlie - she can grip really tightly when she wants to!

Not enough calories, but they absorb the meds nicely. We need to get his weight back up so he is getting meals of all millet, which is equivalent to bags of potato chips for us. JUNK FOOD FOR DAYS!

Jake is home. He's eating and drinking. He's in this small cage because he's not supposed to be climbing around his big cage. I had food, water and perches all close to the floor but he really wanted a higher perch. I'll swap it for a perch that is better for his feet. Follow up appt tomorrow.

A local Minnesota news station did a test in the winter. Mileage was reduced by 30-40%. I think it varied by how much they used the heater, too.

We need some healing energy for our little old man, Jake! He's at the emergency vet for a likely respiratory infection. Thank goodness for the best bird boarding place ever! They got him taken care of while we are on a family (4 generations!) cabin trip.
