While I whole-heartedly agree that what we are seeing is truly Fascist, I have to agree with Bessner that Leftists can't actually unite with Liberalism against it. Because Liberalism itself not only has strains of Fascism, but it sets the conditions that breed this Trumpist "counter-revolution"...

You are making a mistake by trying to identify this stance as "centering anti-liberalism above all else". The Republican Party is merely a variant of the same Liberalism that the Democratic Party represents. Both are decaying into Fascism hand-in-hand (albeit at different rates).
