When I was getting my MFA I ran our unofficial reading series. It was at this little, awful restaurant that exclusively took cash out in North Miami, never had customers but us, and was fucking *scandalized* when I picked us up and moved us to some cafe after we'd been there like ten years, lol

We all *absolutely* knew the place was a front, they would squeeze any extra money out of us to microwave some frozen whatever that they could, and I still remember people being *amazed* that I'd have the balls to move our club meetings somewhere else, haha
