1994: Storm Warning by Mercedes Lackey. This was actually my first Lackey, despite it being well into her Valdemar series. High on Lackey's strengths & low on her pathologies. Features my favourite gay char of hers, Firesong, & the deuteragonist would these days be described as a gray-ace bi guy.

Great thread but I hate you for making me open so many new tabs for further research! Question: Any recommendations of SFF where asides from having queer characters, queerness and sexuality are at the heart of the plot itself?
