Puberty is a "commonality of experience" when it's a white dad observing a young woman have emotions but it's too personal a story when it's a woman of color talking about bodies.
I loved Inside Out AND Turning Red and they both deserve to exist. but they are functionally telling similar stories about the same event, just from different (important!) contexts. It doesn't take much effort to figure out why one of those contexts was palatable for Disney and one wasn't.
