Biden starts from 0 votes. Trump starts from 0 votes. Each person who votes for one of those adds a vote. It doesn't carry over from the previous election. There's no normally. I don't owe my vote to a particular party's candidate ever. And he has no right to count on my vote.

If you vote for the Democrats and the Republicans in roughly equal amounts, then you're right, you not voting is not casting a vote in either direction. Most folks tend to one side or the other.

You can do whatever mental gymnastics you want to avoid the reality, which is: If you, with minimal effort, can help prevent something from happening, and choose not to, that is morally the same as helping it happen. In this case, the “something” and “it” are fascism.
