For reference, blooms in Maumee Bay and Sandusky Bay in Lake Erie have Secchi depths of 20-30 cm. But off Detroit the Secchi depth are as much as 200 to 300 cm. The depth depends on not only algae but also sediment and pigment degradation products (CDOM) 🧪
