Edinburgh University has appointed Simon Fanshawe, a leading supporter of the anti-trans hate group LGB Alliance, as their new Rector. He ran completely unopposed for the position. Anti-trans groups across the UK are cheering the appointment.

This comes after a long campaign by transphobic academics at the university to make trans students feel unsafe by screening transphobic hit-piece films in university grounds, enabled by university management.

If I were a major University I would simply spend 5 minutes googling someone seeking to be a senior official, conclude that they were inevitably and probably deliberately going to embroil the Uni in a huge media shitstorm for their own ends, and appoint literally anyone else

the guy has been invited to speak at uni of aberdeen school of biological sciences at an EDI event on "differing views in EDI"..... the biological sciences school has also had huge issues with structural transphobia from staff and leadership in recent months

He and the LGBA are denying as much as they can that he is part of the LGBA. He’s been present. He’s advised them a bit. But this is all smear by association. After all, his UoE bio doesn’t mention the LGBA once, but mentions Stonewall. So *there*. Also, the LGBA:
