I mean fwiw maternal mortality had doubled in the 2010 from the 80s. It's been getting more dangerous to be pregnant for awhile now

Because of people abandoning babies they didn't want to have? Because people were being forced to birth infants with terminal conditions that meant they only lived a few days before dying? Because people were forced to birth babies they couldn't afford to care for? It doesn't seem hard to figure out
