I'm saying there are so many levels of giving orders -- not to mention the time and effort and people involved in issuing those orders -- that it's going to take a lot more than Donald Trump saying "Overturn the election" for the entire collective U.S. military to say "Yep, let's roll the tanks."
It took Hitler +/- 10 years in a series of incremental steps... and Germany put him in power knowing exactly what he was capable of doing. No, it's not an all-at-once thing, but it's already started.
Also, you don't get to be a senior officer or NCO without learning to say "Sir, what I *think* you meant was..." when the boss is moving a little too quickly to remember the specifics of when to schedule artillery practice.
